Aftercare of Hair Transplant

Hair tranplant is mostly presented as a basic procedure, but nonetheless, an organ transplant and many people simply don’t take that into account. Aftercare of hair transplant is critical to ensure the best results.

Immediate Post-Procedure Care

By following the detailed instructions of Smile Hair Clinic after your hair transplant, you will be sure that your graftsa re safe. To this end, we must remember that the first 48 hours are crucial to guaranteeing the success of the intervention. While doing this, you should adhere to these general recommendations –

  • Do not touch or scratch the grafts: The recently transplanted follicles are terribly weak. Shield your scalp from physical touch; rubbing or scratching the grafts can poke them out of their location. Hitting head while getting in a vehicle is very common so please be sure that you keep distance.
  • Elevate the head, as this helps avoid some of the swelling. You might need to sleep with your head propped up a bit for a few additional days. The best sleep position is at 30 degrees in the inclined.
  • No sweating- Avoid noisy saunas & the rest are things which may cause you to sweat for at least the first 7–10 days to prevent any infection, so you would not certainly wash off these grafts.
  • No strong sunlight: your scalp will be susceptible, so don’t fry it. You should use an umbrella outside in direct sunlight during the first two weeks.

When Can I Wear a Hat?

Generally, some advice for using a loose hat can be obtained 3–5 days after operation. The hat or other accessory should not rub against the grafts because it is still healing. Protect Your Scalp from the Sun with a Hat

We have witnessed many people pull out the implanted grafts, so Smile Hair Clinic warns us to avoid this by wearing a hat after 10 days.

When Will the Grafts Be Safe?

The newly planted grafts generally take to the scalp about 10 – 14 days after surgery. Now, they are in a more solid form and much less likely to be knocked out. At this stage, any small scabs around the grafts fall off independently, indicating that your scalp is healing economically.

When Can I Take a Normal Shower?

2 days after the treatment, you can rinse your scalp delicately yet take care. Wash with a mild, medicated shampoo and do not allow water to directly hit the scalp. Opt for the gentle way of using water on your head with your hand instead of any harsh stream or pipeline of water straight onto your scalp. You should be able to return to your regular shower routine after 10 days, but avoid scrubbing the scalp too complex for a few weeks. Smile Hair Clinic would also like you to shave off scabs after 10-11 days and rub the transplant area with a sponge or a clean shower bladder.

When Can I Expect My Head to Look Normal?

It is usual for your head to have red spots and scabs after the transplant. The redness will typically go away after 1 or 2 weeks and can persist more with lighter skin. In your head, to begin the process of shedding, you will start removing scabs 10 days after the hair surgery. Scabs are mostly gone by the second week, and the scalp will feel and look more normal, but there can still be mild redness for up to a month.

Hair loss (normally caused during the first 15 -30 days after transplantation) may happen temporarily when transplanted hairs fall out. This is normal, and the follicles stay in the scalp, ready to produce new hair during the next few months.

Implanted Hair Progress; Am I Growing Yet?

Transplanted hair usually starts growing back again after 3–4 months post-treatment. You should see some tiny, fine hairs beginning to grow out of the grafts. Over the following months, this hair just gets better and becomes thicker and denser.

Sometimes, people get worried when hair falls and starts to damage the implanted area by massaging stiff or plucking hairs…. It does not work like this either! Keep calm; the cycle is pretty natural! Be patient with this process.

When should the final results be visible?

It may take about 12–18 months to see a hair transplant’s full, ultimate results. At 12 months, almost all the transplanted hair will have grown out for the patient. Nonetheless, there may still be some fine-tuning and further hair growth until you reach the 18-month mark after surgery.

This is the time frame when hair will thicken (if it has not already settled into its permanent texture and density). At the one-year mark, a general idea of how your newly transplanted hair will integrate with the rest should be very clear.

It is very important to:

Follow your surgeon’s instructions.

Healing is an individual journey, and each surgeon will provide individual advice according to each case.

  • HYDRATION AND NUTRITION: Stay hydrated and eat to heal and grow hair. Specifically, eat foods high in vitamins like biotin, zinc, and vitamin E.
  •     Smoking and alcohol: these can inhibit healing and, therefore, slow the growth process.
  •    Have patience, as hair growth takes time. Even if you do not see instant results, be patient and continue to patiently work towards a successful outcome.

The proper and timely aftercare of the transplant is necessary to have a long-lasting result. Take good care of your scalp in the first weeks, follow the instructions the surgeon gave you and wait. The process can take a year or more to see the results thoroughly, but the gradual growth is natural-looking and restores confidence, so it’s definitely worth the wait. You can tend your grafts and scalp in ways post-surgery, which enable the best possible results for new hair.
